- Member of
this class have a dominant gametophyte generation like
mosses, but their body form is a flattened lobe-like
thallus.
- Rhizoids anchor
the plant to the soil
- Sexual
reproduction involves archegonia and antheridia on
gametophytes as was seen in the mosses.
- Asexual
reproduction involves production of gemmae(tiny balls of
tissue borne on the gemmae cup) which disperse via
raindrops or animals.
- Liverworts may
also reproduce asexually by thallus branching.
