CLASS MUSCI or MOSSES
Mosses have structures similar in function to the roots, stems, and leaves of higher plants but are much simpler.
They are anchored by rootlike structures called RHIZOIDS, which do not conduct water.
Mostly small and need a moist environment for growth.
Gametophyte generation is dominant and the diploid sporophyte generation is dependent on the haploid gametophytes.
Reproductive structures: antheridium(male); archegonium (female)
Water
is needed for reproduction. When sperm are released from
the male it swimms through the water to an egg in an
archegonium of the female plant.
