What are plants?
Plants are living things that produces their own food. They are very much different from other living creatures like us. Plants are non-motile and are able to differentiate and dedifferentiate, this means they can grow a new twig when an old one is cut off.
Plants require essential elements from the nature to live, these are: sunlight, water, minerals from the soil, carbon dioxide, and enough space for them to grow. Some plants may not need some of those elements and some requires them all.
There is a wide variety of plants and they are divided in terms of structure, reproduction, and nutrition. Fungi are not plants and are classified under their own kingdom. We should not be mistaken about this because fungi and plants are different in many ways like their mode of nutrition, reproduction, structure, and others that we do not see on the physical characteristics. Plants are divided into different phyla and classes, also known as the plant taxonomy.
